The question is… will you be there???

There will be a “Onesie” (-noun; One - Zee) party at 1079 Queen Street in Halifax. This so called “Onesie” party will serve the purpose of celebrating my birthday and well as paying respectful homage to all outfits that are entirely constructed from on piece of material.

Now to clarify, a “Onesie” is any outfit that is only comprised of one piece of material. This material must at minimum be draped over one’s shoulder’s, cover parts of the mid-section, and also serve as a proper drapery for one’s loins. Footwear is optional as the “Onesie” is the only required piece of clothing required to gain entrance to the event.

Basically, there is going to be concurrently running Beer-Pong and Flip-Cup tournaments going on…. Also, don’t forget the Ian MacIntyre sanctioned dance floor.

For those of you struggling with what a “Onesie” is, think overalls… or see me wearing one here;

• Real life is time consuming. Especially when you run a business, coach/manage a soccer team and have an alcohol problem.

• I find myself spending hours on soccer drill websites trying to get “the best ones” and meticulously drawing out what I see on paper. There’s a disconnect somewhere in there not allowing me to hit the print button.

• My business plan is “it’ll all work out, give it some time”. The Royal Bank did not find this acceptable.

My recent foray into the popsicle buying market has created a rift in our household. While roommate #1 is an avid “Rocket Pop” kind of guy, roommate #2 is a big time Revello supporter. As for myself, I’ve always been partial to Root Beer; a creamsicle in a pinch.

A few minutes ago I got a call from Roommate #1 asking what I was up to tomorrow evening. ”The usual”, I said “eating boiled hotdogs and popsicles while playing RockBand 2 in my boxers, unshaven, unclean and unmotivated. Why, what’s up?”

“Well”, roommate #1 responded, “a girl from class turns a year older tomorrow..”

“Go on..”

”..and she asked what we were up to..”

”..and you said RockBand yadda yadda yadda…”

“Correct. Well, she asked if she could somehow skip that and have her birthday party at our place. You know, a little flip cup, maybe some pong. That sort of thing.”

“Buuut popsicles man, sooo goooood.”

Now, we have had Roommate #1’s class over for some good lil’ shindigs over the past year, but all have been arranged by one of the three roommates. This girl wants to throw a party for ~70 with fun, games, chips, excitement, pop and maybe even some dancing. It’s just like being back at 104. It’s only a matter of time before one of us knocks a girl up. Congrats again Bri!

Mashup Monday: The Beatles

As a general rule The Beatles are left untouched by mashup producers. Regarded by many/most people to be the most revolutionary and influential band of all time, it would be hard to change any song and get away with it. That said, for every 50 failures there emerges one success that combines the raw essence of the inspiration and the inspired. One great example is Come Closer Together, a dark, dirty combination of Come Together - The Beatles with Closer - NIN. Come To Nazareth (Come Together - The Beatles and Waters of Nazareth - Justice) is another great example. Both songs have been featured on the b-log (1 & 2).

Now, for our next example we have a dance-y little number featuring Get Back - The Beatles and Daft Punk is Playing at My House - LCD Soundsystem

So I guess by this count there has been 150 failed attempts at mashing up the Beatles. Hmmm, seems a bit low…
